Fall Banquet – The banquet will be Friday, October 30th at the Valley City Eagles Club. There are early bird tickets available at L&H Shoe Shop and Northwestern Industries, early bird tickets must be purchased by October 15th to be eligible for the $100 Valley Meats Gift Certificate. Banquet setup will be 10/29.
VCHS Trap League Team – The school board has approved having a clay target league team. They will shoot in the spring starting in April, more info to come after the October Meeting.
Wetlands Project – There is a motion before the club to donate $2,000 for grass seed to be used on the Olson WMA down by Hastings.
Hunters Ed- 33 signed up and two dropped out. The next hunters ed class will be in March.
Hides for Habitat- We will be having hides for habitat again this year. There will be a 50/50 cash prize again this year.
Deer for the Food Pantry – We will be taking deer for the food pantry again this year. Contact Goose, 840-0179 before bringing deer to Valley Meats.
Buck Show – The buck show will be held at the Valley City Eagles on Monday November 23rd. There will be a few changes this year. The contest is now opened up to any ND deer taken by bow or rifle, by a Barnes County resident or BCWF member. Also anyone bringing in a deer will be entered in a drawing for door prizes. If you would like to help with the buck show contact TJ 490-0929.

Trap Shoot Fun Night / Annual Annie Oakley Shoot – Is scheduled for Sept. 15, 6 pm at the Valley City Trap Club. There will be food and prizes. All proceeds go to the Hunters Education Program. Contact Todd at 840-1198 or Skip at 490-3211 with any questions.
Take a Kid Fishing – We had a good turn out again this year. 43 kids signed up, 25 came that day, and we had 17 volunteers that helped that day. The kids caught a few perch, many smallmouth bass, bullheads, and a pumpkinseed sunfish. Pictures and more information available on the club’s website
Summer Fishing Derby – Congratulations to Tony Bundy and Ken Didier for winning the summer walleye derby with 27.95 lbs. The also caught the biggest walleye of the weekend weighing in at 8.5 lbs. We had 96 teams this year for the 26th Annual Barnes County Wildlife Walleye Tournament on Lake Ashtabula. The tournament was held on June13th and 14th. There were 574 walleyes weighed in over the weekend, totaling 1186 lbs. More info below and pictures are available on the clubs website and Facebook Page.
Hunters Ed – The North Dakota Game & Fish Dept. recognized Dennis Helland and Skip Pedersen for 30 years of volunteer service as hunter’s education instructors. Both of them received plaques for their 30 years of service and lifetime combination hunting and fishing license.
Gaylon Hansen Youth Outdoors Day – We had 14 kids attend this year. There were 6 stations: Fishing, Hunting, Hunter Ed, Archery, Trapping, and The eating station. We had several volunteers at each station and we had a wonderful time. We also had a few youth stay after and shoot some trap which was great for those that got to shoot. Faust Park – 8 new apples trees were planted in the park this spring.
We had to cancel the youth pheasant hunt do to lack of participation. We didn’t get enough kids preregistered to hold the hunt.
BCWF monthly meetings will now be at the Valley City Eagles Club. Next meeting will be Wednesday,Sept. 9th supper at 6 with the meeting to follow.
