Youth Pheasant Hunt – The youth pheasant hunt has been scheduled for August 29th at the Jim Zerface farm north of Tower City. Youth need to be 11-14 years of age, have completed hunters safety, and need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. (Poster Attached)
Fisheries- BJ Kratz the new manager of the fisheries department came to the March meeting and talked about what’s going on at the lakes around the area.
High School Trap League: There is interest in starting a high school trap league in North Dakota. They are looking for a total of $10,000 in donations and then Scheels will donate $20,000 to help it get started. We are planning on donating $1000 if there is going to be a school in Barnes County involved.
NDWF Automobile Banquet- The banquet was March 21st at The Eagles. (winners below)
Wetlands Heritage Outdoors Fund: They are looking to remove an old fence line from some property and are looking for help with this project.
Gaylon Hansen Youth Outdoors Day: Is going to be Wednesday August 19. TJ is hoping by moving it to the middle of the week it will be easier for kids and volunteers to attend.
VCSU Scholarships: We will be looking at the scholarship applications this month and announcing the recipients next month.
Hunters Ed Class: They had 59 students in the March Class. Skip said that everything went well. Thank you to the instructors and volunteers.
Road Clean Up – We will be setting the date for road clean up at the April meeting.
Summer Derby: Remember to send in your applications. The Derby will be June 13 & 14 this year.
New Fishing License- Remember to renew your fishing license. Last year’s license expired on 3/31.
Archery Reminder: The Archery Club has a new facility for its members located at 1025 4 Bottle Drive in the northwest industrial park between Drug Plastics and the Barnes County Municipal Airport. Shooting times are Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 7pm to 9pm. For more information call Neil Pederson at 840-0173.

BCWF Predator Hunt: We had 20 teams this year and 42 hunters. They shot 16 coyotes. The winning team was Jesse Faul, Kade Nice, and Justin Brotzler with 3 coyotes. Large Dog went to Gary Will and Clay Elliott. Small Dog went to Jarrett Christoferson, Stuart Orth, and Ryan Orth. The gun winner was Tony Berger. The fur check for this year was $420.

Barnes County Park Board: John Froelich announced that they have a vacancy and would like to see it filled by a member of Barnes County Wildlife.
North Dakota Winter Show: We will be having a booth again this year at the Winter Show March 6th-8th stop by and renew your membership if you have not had a chance to do so yet. We will have some information from the Game and Fish and a picture slide show of events throughout the year.
NDWF Pickup Banquet: The banquet is March 21st at the Valley City Eagles. There are only around 30 tickets left, if you haven’t got yours yet contact Perry.
VCSU Scholarships: Applications are available at L&H Shoe Shop and Perry also has some. The deadline to turn in applications this year is April 1st.
Hunters Ed Class: March 10, 12, 15, 17, 19 from 6-9:30PM. 60 Students have already preregistered online and it is showing as full online. You can still contact Skip if you want to enroll or just show up for the first night of class.

Ice Fishing Derby: We had a great turn out, 320 people fished this year and 90 fish were weighed in.
Hides for Habitat: We got $300 for the 43 hides donated this year. We did a 50/50 cash drawing this year rather than a gun. Eugene Pederson was the winner of the 50/50 drawing.
Pheasant Tail Contest: The contest was held before the January meeting. First place was Mel Berger 23 8/16 inches and second place was a tie between Larry Leier and Tim Fiebiger 23 7/16 inches.
Sheyenne Valley Calling Contest: We had 20 teams with 24 coyotes shot this year. The winning team was Tatem Brandt, Dillon Carpenter, and Jarod Miedema with 6 coyotes.
US Fish & Wildlife: Kurt Tompkins gave a presentation on concerns of over growth of trees and grasses on WPAs and other lands under their control. They are asking Barnes County Wildlife to help with paying for the removal of invasive trees and grasses.
State Wildlife Convention: We had a full delegation this year. The main topics at the convention were the future of hunting and discussion on the bills that pertain to hunting in the legislature.

Club spokesman Neil Pederson says there is a youth and adult range which is perfect for advanced and beginning archers. Shooting times are Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 7pm to 9pm.
